A Honolulu native, Joan Livingston Albao danced at every great Waikiki nightspot, including the Queen's Surf, Hawaiian Village, with the Danny Kaleikini Show at the Kahala Hilton, was the featured Tahitian dancer at the Reef, has toured Japan, Australia and on the mainland, has worked from Alaska to Las Vagas to Chicago.

Joan was also a model and appeared in many commercials, films and TV. She was a regular on Hawaii Calls , and Tony Todaro calls her "one of Hawaii's most dazzling hula dancers . . . intelligent, sophisticated and a paragon of grace and poise."
