How does one describe a legend?
Aunty Genoa Keawe has not only entertained multiple generations with her limitless talent and contributed greatly
to Hawaiian music's form and substance, she has given us a family of talented performers and encourages
any who seek her guidance.
You'd never know it, but this indelible treasure was born in 1918 and her birthday parties each October at the
hotel where she performs have become very hot tickets. Other than her hair color, Aunty Genoa
seems to have changed little from her early days. Her voice, if anything, has gotten richer with the years.
She has been honored and interviewed so many times over the years, rather than try to encompass Aunty
