MAX GOOTHERTS

He immigrated to the United States in 1913 from China. He was born in Russia 1889, and as many Russian Jews, immigrated to China in the mid 1890's. He lived in the San Francisco bay area the rest of his life, and died in 1953. He married Doris Casdin in about 1917 and had two children, Mignon Keller and Mervin Gootherts (my father), also a musician as I am. I am not sure why he wrote a song about Hawaii, except that he may have stopped there on the way over from China.
