HULA ALMEIDA
Carmela Hula Almeida Nicolet is part of one of Honolulu's legendary entertainment families. Her grandfather was
John K. Almeida, and she often danced with her mother Leilani. She began dancing on Hawaii Calls at the age of
14. Tony Todaro calls her "a petite hula girl that projects magnificently . . . she inspired one of my songs 'Hula
Belle.'"
Hula danced at the Moana with her father Pua Almeida, toured Japan, Canada and the mainland, danced at the
Hawaiian Village and with Ed Kenney as well as performing with Don Ho and Dick Jensen locally and in Las
Vegas.
