MAHI BEAMER
Son of Puaena and Milton D. Beamer, Mahi was born in Honolulu. He attended Kamehameha School and
the Julliard School of Music. Mahi was the first of his generation to succeed as a recording artist. His first
important engagement was at Queen's Surf, where he performed for five years. His first two albums
included all of his grandmother's compositions. He is an outstanding dancer, doing both the ancient chants
and dances. His dancing and falsetto singing were featured in Nalani Kele's Polynesian Revue at the Las Vegas
Stardust Hotel for 13 years.
Back in Honolulu, he is a treasured fixture in Waikiki hotels, playing and singing in lounges and lobby bars.
Because of his skill as a dancer, and his lineage, members
of local halau often come to where he's playing after hula competitions, performing for delighted audiences.
