Mamo Howell

MAMO HOWELL

Mamo Souza Howell was born in Honolulu. At the age of three, she danced at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel with Aunty Lou Beamer. She appeared with Alfred Apaka and performed at La Hula Rhumba, Hawaiian Town, Pago Pago, South Seas, Lau Ye Chai, Halekulani Hotel and Don the Beachcombers nightclubs by age seven. She toured all over the world, especially when chosen to represent America for Pan American Airways and the Jantzen International swimsuit company.

She founded the Mamo Howell School of Fashion and Modeling and is now best known for her line of designer Hawaiian wear under the name "Mamo." Her store is in Ward Warehouse.
