NACIO HERB BROWN
One of a handful of musicians who contributed greatly to island music while having mainstream
career in the entertainment world. Nacio Herb Brown was born in Deming, New Mexico, and grew up in Los Angeles.
His career in composing scores for motion pictures for MGM includes such classics as Broadway Melody,
Going Hollywood, and Singing in the Rain. His song compositions, usually with Arthur Freed as
lyricist, include 'All I Do Is Dream of You,' 'My Lucky Star,' 'The Pagan Love Song,' and 'You Were Meant for Me.'
For Hawaii, he composed 'Chant of the Jungle,' 'Paradise,' 'Coral Sea,' 'On an Island with You,' 'Moonlit Waters,'
and 'When Buddha Smiles.'
