OZ CLARKE
Oz Clarke studied theology at Oxford, and got his first professional job, after playing Toby Belch in Patrick Garland's Twelfth Night, as Juvenile Character Man with Northampton Rep. This was followed by Billy at Drury Lane. He then joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has played leading roles at Sheffield, Manchester and Leicester and went to Chichester in 1977. In 1978 he worked for Opera Comique and Prospect at the Old Vic, playing Humphrey in The Lady's Not for Burning and Kosyh in Ivanov. He joined the National Theatre for John Dexter's As You Like It, leaving to do Nelson for ATV and Sweeney Todd at Drury Lane. In 1981 he played the title role in the premiere of Stephen Oliver's A Man of Feeling at the Kings Head, Islington, and later recorded it for Granada Television. He played Noah Topping in Dandy Dick for the Cambridge Theatre Company, and was heard as the singer in Lord of the Rings. He was the leading man in The Mitford Girls both at Chichester and subsequently at the Globe. Film credits include Superman and Who Dares Wins. He is well known as a leading wine writer and taster.
