The Broadway Company of Evita began rehearsals in April at 890 Broadway. When they opened at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Los Angeles Music Center as the first attraction of the summer Civic Light Opera 1979 season, there were only rehearsal photos in the first program. These were mostly odd shots of the principals looking at Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's book on Eva Perón, which had been published the previous year.
