PIKAKE

©
Lyrics & Music: Andy Cummings

The Chinese jasmine flower was brought to Hawaii in the 1880s and grew lushly around Princess Victoria Kaiulani's estate, Ainahau. It is said that she called the flower 'pikake' because her peacocks used to roam through the plants.

Pikake
My flower divine
Pikake
Please say you'll be mine
Please say you love me too
As much as I love you
And promise to be true
Ever so true dear

Pikake
I can't let you go
My poor heart
Just wants you to know
That it's so plain to see
That you will always be
Throughout eternity
Pikake mine
